Another month another spending report.

Every month I do a quick round up of my accounts and spending. I love to do this so I will continue to document this process on my blog. It’s a great exercise and it provides you with the ability to look back and see what your spending was like in any given month and help you do better for the future.

This month my spending was pretty lean which I am pretty happy about. As I think I mentioned in a previous post, I decided to really cut down on my clothing spending because I want to buy a nice bag before the end of the year. I am still deciding what I want to get but I know for sure I also want to replace my little wallet.

Anyway here is a breakdown on the notable purchases I made this month:

  1. Sephora – I made a trip to Sephora this month to get some essentials. I purchased my favourite Living Proof dry volume blast spray, I also purchased a new scalp exfoliant (I usually purchase this Briogeo one but thought I’d switch it up): the Drybar on the rocks scrub. I purchased one of my favourite mascaras: the Too Faced better than sex mascara (I usually buy drugstore mascaras but thought I would just treat myself). Last thing was a mini L’Occitane hand cream which kind of caught me in the line up (those mini impulse purchases), this is my favourite hand cream.
  2. Laser – I was due for a laser hair removal appointment this month so I paid for that as well. I am thinking of doing a blog post about this, stay tuned.
  3. Fast Food and Coffee – I usually budget about $100 per month for fast food and coffee. This month I seem to be on track to be well below this budget. I am at about $70 which is great.
  4. Closet – ok so I did make a few clothing purchases some of which I have returned. I purchased a white crew neck sweater from Aritzia, two pairs of jeans from Abercrombie which were on sale but I ended up returning both and purchasing a light coloured pair from Levis (501 skinnys which are my personal favourite), and lastly I purchased a pair of Sorel sneakers which I saw on instagram and fell in love with. Hoping I am better next month, already planning my wallet purchase but there isn’t anything else that I can think of that I want (unless I find the bag I want to purchase).

And thats October 2020! Let me know if you keep track of you spending regularly and if so how do you manage your finances? Do you look back at your spending and course-correct or do you set a budget at the beginning of each month?
