Although I did quite a bit of spending when it came to clothing and skincare last year, there are some things that I usually spend on that I did NOT last year that I’d like to go over.
1. winter coats
This can be a tough category, living in Canada I feel like we spend half the year in our winter jackets. I get lots of good use from my current winter coat collection and I’m pretty pleased with the pieces I have. I feel like you really just need one wool coat, a parka and a puffer to get through these tough winters. I purchased a puffer in 2022 that I’ve been using a lot in 2023 and I am pleased to say that I did not purchase any winter coats this year nor did I particularly feel the need to.
2. winter boots
I’ve had one pair of heavy duty winter boots that I have been wearing for years now. I find winter boots are a tricky item because the functional ones are rarely cute and they can be quite uncomfortable to wear often. They are heavy and clunky and often not enjoyable to wear overall. Because of this, I’ve really only felt the need to have one pair along side a pair of Uggs for the winter. I will wear my Uggs when its less wet out and my heavy duty winter boots when its more slushy outside.
3. Luxury bags
I am also pleased to report that although I have been getting a lot of use from my current luxury bag collection, I haven’t felt the need to add to it or get a new bag in 2023. I think the last time I made a luxury purchase for myself was back in 2021 which was my YSL loulou that I bought in Cannes. I also bought this to commemorate my bonus that year. I actually haven’t felt the need to buy anything more than that. This year we are planning to go to Italy and I may take advantage and make a purchase while we are there to take advantage of the European prices.
4. jeans
This is another category that I feel I’ve really completed my collection. I have several pairs of jeans: white, grey a dark and light wash and I feel like that is all I need. I don’t wear jeans very often but I don’t feel the need to buy any more because I have built this small collection and have had each of the pairs hemmed to fit perfectly.
5. skincare tools
I love skincare items and different tools such as ice rollers, quartz rollers, steamers and other things to improve your complexion. I have purchased a number of these items over the years and I feel as though there is nothing else I am missing. In 2023 although I purchased a number of skincare products however, I did not buy any new tools.
6. Jewelry
In the past years I’ve collected some great everyday pieces that I wear all the time. I’ve gone through moments where I’ve been so into buying great quality minimal jewelry. In 2023 I was especially tempted to buy a few pieces at Mejuri during their black friday sale but by the time I got around to it, it was too late. That was probably a blessing in disguise. I’ve added a few things to my wish list and perhaps in 2024 I may make a few purchases to add to my collection.
