Here we are, heading into the last 3 months of the year. The holiday season is when most people tend to spend the most of their annual income so its so important to start your holiday budget prepping now to get a head start.
September was a pretty quiet month for my bank account (ha!). I didn’t go out that much and I spent virtually no money on clothes which is pretty surprising if you know me, clothing is the one line item in my budget that I have not been able to but out completely. You can almost say that September was an unintended no-buy for me.
If I’m being honest, I spent an extraordinary amount on other categories I usually don’t (oh hey mejuri), but no regrets here so far.
Here is what I bought this month:
1. hats
This is super random but in place of clothing, I actually towards the end of the month went ahead and purchased a couple hats from Lids here in Toronto. Lids is a store that sells hats like baseball caps. I think a hat is an essential especially for those that do not wash their hair everyday and want to mask 5 day hair but don’t always want to put their hair up.
2. jewelry
For whatever reason, I have really been into jewelry lately. I think this is slowly taking over my clothing obsession. I am trying to limit my jewelry purchases to “special” events or occasions that way it is more meaningful. In particular, I am loving purchasing dainty solid gold pieces. This month I purchased a gold bracelet early in the month after a very rough work week to reward myself for my severe burnout. Toward the end of the month I unfortunately was involved in a car accident and I know this is silly but in honour of surviving that I purchased another bracelet from mejuri. I am so happy with these bracelets because they are gold and dainty they will not tarnish and I am able to leave them on comfortably all day without having to take them off.
3. nails
I got my nails done twice this month. I go in and out phases of doing my own nails and getting them done. I have kind of made the decision of ending the year off with getting my nails done. It is a huge time saver and truthfully when I get them done, its such a great “pick me up” during a stressful week and a great way to treat myself.
4. meals out
I ate out with friends a couple of times this month which meant paying for a meal. This was becoming more rare during this pandemic but I am so glad to be able to return to normal life including getting together with friends.
And there you have it! I am excited to take on this holiday season especially given how busy it has been at work lately. I will be going on a trip this December so I am so excited for that. I have also decided to buy a car and thought this was the best time to do that (now that the current year models will be on sale). This will be my very first car but I am enjoying the process and want to do my research before I take the plunge. Stay tuned for some upcoming posts about this!
In terms of my plans for October, I am planning and hoping to continue to keep my costs low and extend my clothing low-buy into this month. My mom has a big birthday this month, next month is my sisters birthday and then theres the holidays in December which means gifts gifts and more gifts! I plan on not buying any new christmas decor this holiday season (lets see how that goes) and using what I have to decorate, follow me on instagram to see what I’m making/baking and have going on!
