Want to know how to get a picture perfect christmas tree the easy way? Well I have come with a foolproof simple guide to make your christmas tree look photo ready with three easy steps.
The first step is to select a cohesive colour scheme. I would suggest picking something very simple so that you are able to make small adjustments to each year instead of getting all new decorations (if you get bored easily and just love switching it up). A safe choice is white and then add another colour (for example white and blue or white and red).
Now here are the 3 simple keys:
1. Ornaments
Try choosing different sizes for variation and when decorating your tree place the large ones on the tree first that way you can space them out. I would also focus the larger ones towards the bottom of the tree so it does’t look disproportionate. Once you have all the large ones up, you can then begin scattering your smaller sized ornaments.
2. Picks
I discovered these last year from my pinterest and youtube research. With fake trees, despite the fluffing, sometimes you just can’t get it to look as full as you like. This solution to this is lots of decor. Picks can certainly help with this. If you get different types and just begin putting them throughout your tree it really gives it that “full” effect. If you’re looking for picks I recommend checking out Michaels they have frequent sales and lots of different types of picks.
3. Ribbon
Lastly, you need some thick wired ribbon, this coupled with the other two things above will really elevate the look of your tree. It really helps add colour and provides that real rich look. Make sure you use a good quality ribbon that is stiff so you can use it year after year. Also cut your ribbon into strips and experiment with placement: diagonal, horizontal, vertical. There are tons of tutorials on this. Here is the video tutorial of the method I use that requires the last amount of ribbon.
If you’re more of a visual person, feel free to head over to my instagram, I just created a reel that gives you an idea of how these things tips in practice.
Here are some bonus tips for you:
1. make your own tree topper with wired ribbon. I made my own topper last year and I reused it this year! Here is the video tutorial on youtube I used if you’re curious.
2. I really love the look of a substantial tree skirt, so last year I went to Fabricland (you can go to any fabric store of even use a blanket you aren’t using) and got some fluffy almost shearling-like fabric and I used that at the bottom of my tree as a skirt instead of buying one. Not only is a budget friendly option it is also looks a lot nicer. No need to sew anything I just tucked the edges in and it looks great.
I hope you found these tips useful and try them out this year!
