February is always an easy “low-spend” month because it is a shorter month. Unfortunately, this was not the case for me. My spending this month was significantly higher than last month (which was my no buy month). I had to get a few gifts this month which explains the increased expenses and I have already kind of slipped on my low buy (I am trying people!).

Here is what I bought this month:

Gifts

I spent more than usual on gifts because I had a drive through baby shower to attend and my cousin also gave birth to her baby girl. I love gift giving and it is important to me so I was happy to be able to do this.

Aveda

I ran out of my shampoo and conditioner this month (if you have been following me instagram you know that I usually buy a large bottle of both and this will usually last over a year). To replace it, I thought I would try something new (I have also been recently suffering from sensitive scalp) so I purchased the Aveda Invati haircare system. I got a good deal (always look for a deal ladies) and I also go the travel set for free with my purchase (the bottles are a pretty good size!). I don’t usually purchase new products but I trust Aveda have used their products before so I was confident in this choice.

Facebook Marketplace

I’ve had a pair of Denim Forum jeans on my wishlist for a couple of weeks and I spotted a pair on Marketplace for $60 (these jeans are usually about $128 new). I purchased these and I am pretty happy with them so far. If you’ve read my basics post, you know that I have tried and tested a number of jeans and I am very particular with my preferences. Although these jeans are 98% cotton find that they are significantly less stiff than my favourite Levis. Only time will tell if I absolutely love these as much as my Levi’s but I will definitely provide an update (stay tuned).

Aritzia

I almost made it to the end of the month without purchasing anything else (aside from the jeans from Marketplace). I’m writing this on the very last day of the month and just yesterday I went to the mall to have two pairs of jeans hemmed. The malls in my area just opened up so I was able to go in person. I decided to pop into Aritzia and I ended up purchasing a black bodysuit and the New Flowy Button-Up top. Both have been on my wishlist for more than a month. What’s interesting is that I’ve been eyeing the New Flowy top online for a while now and I noticed that the colour I wanted online was sold out so when I saw it in the store (my size was one of the few left) I decided to go ahead and get it. I don’t think how great that explanation is but this is how I rationalized it to myself.

I then went home and purchased the Canberra Cardigan in sand brown online because I noticed that it was on sale (did not see it in the store). This item has also been on my wishlist. So I guess you can say I kind of snapped this month. I am hoping this mini spree will hold me over until April.

Lightroom

Lastly, as a blogger there are certain expenses involved in allowing you to produce quality content. One app that I have been using for over a year is Lightroom which allows me to create my own presets in order to create a beautiful feel and quality posts both on instagram and on my blog. My year membership became due this month so this was an expense that is on the books for February.

That is everything I purchased! If you have any suggestions on my monthly spend reports please feel free to leave a comment. I am an open book so if you feel it would be helpful to include numbers or are curious to know how much I spend on more month to month “boring” line items like groceries and my phone bill please let me know, I am open to suggestions!
