Another old clothes new looks post! Today we are covering ways to style a basic black dress. If you do not already have a black dress and are in the market for one I would recommend getting one.

I think sneakers and a crew neck sweater is a great way to make your black dress look like a skirt. I would choose a sweater on the cropped side especially if your dress is on the shorter side so that the proportions are not off. You can even throw a belt in to tie everything together.
This is the classic black dress formula. A denim jacket and sneakers are another great way to make a black dress more casual. This denim jacket is an old one I’ve had for years, I find if you get a classic cut (not shrunken or oversized) you can use it for years. I would also suggest getting a colour in the middle of the denim spectrum (not too dark or light of wash) so that it is versatile.
This is a great classic way to style a black dress – with a long cardigan. I love the combination of tan and black, the white sneakers also give this outfit a more casual vibe but you can of course switch it up for a pair of espadrilles during the summer to make it a little more dressed up.
Lance Cardigan in olive beige (size XS)
Depending on your workplace and length of your dress, this is a great work-friendly outfit. A grey plaid blazer is a classic staple and you can also dress this outfit down with sneakers instead of mules.
Lastly, this look has the same tones as the long cardigan above but it is certainly more casual.
